Workshops
“We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” George Bernard Shaw.
Fluid art workshopsare the perfect place to leave your everyday behind and think of nothing but beatiful creation for the duration you are with me. Its not just about learning a new skill, its about being in the moment, giving yourelf permission to play and free your mind, which in turns feeds your soul. Some workshops merge with mindfulness, where I tantilaise all your senses through mediation and movement before letting you loose with the paints!
The most comon feedback comment and the one that gives me most satisfaction when a client leaves my space, grinning from ear to ear is "that was amazing, I honestly thought of nothing else for 4 whole hours, I was so into the process, I feel so energised!"

Coasters! Fluid Art Workshop
Harriet Sheppard Art recently hosted a fluid art workshop at Harbour View Studio in the heart of Compton Acres gardens, where participants created their own coasters using fluid art techniques. A wellness space was curated with relaxing scents and sounds, providing an immersive experience—an escape into a world of colour and creativity.
Children 10 and over with an interest in art were welcome to attend if accompanied by an arty adult. Attendees explored two techniques to create eight coasters, four in each style. One from the eight was selected to be made into printed hardback coasters—three sets of four in a box. Three Christmas gifts sorted!

All skill levels were welcome
The workshop included:
- A relaxing welcome and introduction to techniques
- Preparing to create on tiles
- Colour combinations
- Mixology of paints for the 2 techniques
- CREATION
- Selection of Coaster for print

Options
Participants had the option to have their eight original pieces presented in a frame as a piece of art at an additional cost. These could not be used as coasters unless they were heat-proof resin coated, which was not available in the studio but could be discussed with Harriet.
Fluid art was a messy business! Attendees were advised to wear suitable clothing or bring aprons/overalls—often, it was their feet that got caught out. Latex-free gloves were provided.
Participants were welcome to bring their own paints, though only Amsterdam or Pebeo brands were recommended for this style of art.
